The scrolls on this page represent only the most recent year's works (2010, or AS XLIV to XLV). 10"x14". Goat skin parchment, created by Stephen the Merchant. This work is done with hand-ground paint pigments and Aurum Gold Leaf (23.5 kt). The primary text of is executed in blackhand, and the entirety of the work is modeled after the Buckland Missal. All methods, materials, and worksmanship is as period as could be recreated. 10"x14". Goat skin parchment, finished on both sides. Hand-ground paint pigments. Aurum Gold Leaf (23.5 kt). The primary text of is executed in very tiny secretarial blackhand, and the entirety of the work is modeled after the Romance of Alexander. All methods, materials, and worksmanship is as period as could be recreated. The whole is being bound into a girdle book as were often created in the late 1300's. The book is being bound by a dear friend, HL Sabine d'Angers. The award was an Order of the Laurel for Mistress Annisa Gabrielli. To see more on this project, feel free to look here. |

10"x14". Pergamenta. Gouache pigments. Aurum Gold Leaf (23.5 kt). The primary text of is executed in a insular half-uncial as per the Lindesfarne Gospels and Book of Kells. The framework follows the style of a carpet page from these sources, with geometric shapes patterned in shaped layers to highlight the knotwork. Further, his lady and inspiration, Jarless Wrenn, bears the charge of a swirly silver sun as the centerpiece of her own arms, thus the black lion of the kingdom is borne within a rondel depicting the charge of her device. 10"x14". Pergamenta. Gouache pigments. Aurum Gold Leaf (23.5 kt). This scroll's style is based on the Ashmole Bestiary and the Aberdeen Bestiary (both c.1100). The rich, gold-leafed animal portaits in the Aberdeen Bestiary, in particular, gave the icon image at the top of this scroll its lustre and structure; the saint icon used as the central figure is taken from the Winchester Bible (c.1160-1175). 6"x4". Pergamenta. Gouache pigments. Aurum Gold Leaf (23.5 kt); Shell gold crown (23.75 kt). For the 2010 Twelfth k-Night auction, Sir Brand deux Leons asked to sponsor two charitable donations of my work. I gladly agreed - what a wonderful opportunity to make a positive impact, as well as receive new projects! One marker is done in a traditional celtic style, the other as an italian white vine; the better to show a range of ability and technique. See them up close here. |

6"x4". Pergamenta. Gouache pigments. Aurum Gold Leaf (23.5 kt); Shell gold crown (23.75 kt). This scroll was done with in a late gothic manuscript style, using penwork illumination based on the Hours of Catherine of Cleves, a book historically dated to 1440. The Sable Scrivener is an award for excellence and service in the field of Calligraphy and Illumination, in particular by doing scrolls for court, to the Crown of An Tir. The scroll is created in an elaborate design modeled on the antiphonal music-books of the 15th and 16th centuries. here. |
